When we think of the Christmas Season, one of the first images that comes to mind is evergreen trees and warmly glowing lights. The two indicative images of the season come to us from solstice celebrations from early history.
I could not help but be drawn to the warmth of both the fresh evergreen and of course the candlelight. As I photographed the collection of items it was cold. About 29ºF (-1.6ºC) outside as the evening drew on and the light became less and less until it became very still and crisp. It added to my inspiration and I kept capturing images.
When designing this particular look, I thought of a chilly outdoor gathering. A winter’s night with a gorgeous fire, guests wrapped in blankets, sharing a warm mulled cider while remarking on the cold and the warm glow of the fire. The kind of evening that was less than fussy but stayed top of mind for many years.
Enjoy the gallery below of a crisp winter night at my home.
