Undeniably, fall is my favorite season. The layers of texture and color available for inspiration and product-wise is incredible. But! And it is a big But! (stop it) I love the idea of throwing convention out the window.

This table design speaks to my senses as a designer.

Pumpkins do appear, yes but they are from the accessory closet. I keep them next to the wire hangers (throw in your best mommy dearest reference, please). But what interests me is the idea of what sparks conversation, makes people notice something is not usual in the most beautiful way. In essence, sparking joy and chat between guests.

Here rust and metal containers in the same values are filled with:

  • Green and cream roses
  • Small purple and green ornamental kale
  • Hellebores (one of my favorites)
  • Privet berry
  • Mushrooms
  • Coppertop amaranthus
  • Cream celosia
  • Apples
  • Bosc pears
  • Cut open Artichokes
  • Assorted foliage including tropical Grevilia

Elements were chosen based on their color and material.

None matched, (except the two rust vessels) the wood tones were similar in color but side by side and used alone, they would never work. Glass and metal pumpkins, and mismatched candles.

The place settings were decided on before the table was constructed. I knew I wanted to feature these aqua/turquoise plates I purchased over the summer from Pier One.

Napkins were from Restoration Hardware (Sadly, RH discontinued there dining linens), and rings from Pier One.

Originally the napkins were going to be a rust hue. However, it was way too much color.

This moody lavender shade did much better in refining the color story.

On the mantel, I kept it simple with just simple bunches of magnolia branches in classic footed bell jars accented by the super cool Grevillia.

I decided on the vintage Arabian metal table plate as the mantle decor with a pumpkin in the same hue. So not to distract too much from the colorful table.

I hope you enjoy the design as much as I enjoy sharing it with you.
