How many can speak to this point? You would be absolutely shocked to know the real number.
Maybe it’s a friend or sibling, a group, or even a parent; sometimes it’s our own subconscious but whatever it is, some of us tend to play small in the name of assimilation. My question is, “how is that working for you?”
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
Enlightened words that are completely transformational.
If “God” is not your preferred noun, choose your own word. Marianne’s point is to move you and make you aware that you are powerful. Don’t get hung up on text, but find yourself in the message.
Do you want to be free of your own BS? Start standing in your power and learn that it also serves others. Please know you’re not selfish, but a person who is respected, loved, and so deserving of both.
In the past, I stopped myself. I let my others dictate how far or how bright I would shine. “Who do you think you are?” That is what my subconscious would chirp like an unwanted pest. The issue was, my answer is was “nobody.” And quietly I would trot off to my quiet place not calling attention to myself.
My other issue was “THEY.”
“THEY are going to say I’m (fill in the blank with a self-defeating item)”
“What will THEY think?”
But who are “THEY?” In short, no one. They don’t exist any more than the Care Bears do.
